Kellie is the loving mum of Ollie, a sweet-natured five-year-old boy. With such a happy personality, it’s hard to believe Ollie’s had to fight from the second he was born. Ollie was born prematurely at 30 weeks with multiple heart defects. He endured two major heart operations before he was three months old, and didn’t go home until he was nearly four months old. He will require one more open heart surgery in the future to replace a damaged aortic valve.
Ollie has a very rare genetic mutation on his HDAC2 gene and also has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. Both of these issues cause serious challenges. He has feeding and hearing problems, is non-verbal, and has an intellectual disability, among other difficulties.
During his young life, Ollie has endured multiple long stays in hospital. This has taken a toll on Kellie and her family, but together, they’ve learnt to celebrate everything —big and small. When they discovered the Supertee story, it made them all so incredibly happy. With a fun medical garment that didn’t look boring and serious, Ollie can look like the superhero he really is.
